MEDIA MANIPULATION

defined, it is an aspect of public relations in which partisans create an image or argument that favors their particular interest. such tactics may include the use of logical fallacies and propaganda techniques, and often involve the suppression of information or points of view by crowding them out, by inducing other people or groups of people to stop listening to certain arguments, or by simply diverting attention elsewhere.

techniques vary. with modern technology, many are added everyday.

they call it the "media gaze".

but are we really seeing the true picture of reality?

THE PLAGUE OF MISERY

there is an intrinsic ethical dimension to every political decision.

the global economy can never be separated from the solidarity market. the plague of misery affecting peoples and families continue to drive deep wedges between the rich and the poor of this global community. this plague includes credit card companies and banks that charge 18% plus, enticing people to consumerism.

the plague also includes the immorality of foreign debts. they are crushing debts that feeds the spiral of poverty in many less developed nations. it is quite a paradox that side by side with the advances of the economy, science and technology, there is an increase in poverty.

technical progress is not everything. true progress enables us to practice our preferential love for the poor.

THE EVILS OF TERRORISM

terrorism exploits people. it does not respect a person's conscience. to try to impose on others by violent means what we consider to be the truth is an offense against human dignity and ultimately an offense against god.

terrorism exploits god. he becomes an idol for one's purpose. he is the father of all, he whom we all invoke cannot be the executioner of his children. such is often the result of fanatic fundamentalism.

terrorism exploits religion. it is aprofanation to declare oneself a terrorist in the name of god, to do violence to others in his name.

a genuine religious belief is the chief antidote to violence and conflict.
